As a Concord City Councilmember and lifelong resident, Lori understands what makes our hometown special—and what it will take to preserve it for generations to come.

About Lori

Lori Clay was born and raised in Concord, North Carolina, and apart from three years after college, she has proudly called Concord home her entire life. She received her K–12 education in Cabarrus County Schools and earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Business Law from UNC Charlotte.

  • Lori is a local business owner and job creator with over 30 years of experience in her family-owned company, which services and sells emergency power systems throughout the Carolinas.
  • She also owns a battery company that supports backup power systems for data centers across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland.

CIVIC & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

  • Lori is a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Concord, where she sings in the choir.
  • She’s a graduate of both the Concord 101 program and the Cabarrus Chamber’s Leadership Cabarrus Class, which she led until 2015.

PERSONAL LIFE

  • Lori has one son, a spoiled Boston Terrier named Thomas Byrd, and a rescue cat named Pickles.
  • In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking, and traveling.

Lori Clay is more than a lifelong Concord resident—she’s a neighbor, a mom, a small business owner, and a voice for working families. Lori knows the everyday struggles because she’s lived them—raising a family, running a business. She is known for showing up with solutions and has spent years working alongside neighbors, churches, our city’s nonprofits and civic organizations to strengthen Concord’s families, protect its heritage, and guide responsible growth.
